Massachusetts Interfaith Climate Action Network was formed this past January working trough the Mass Council of Churches and Mass Interfaith Power and Light.  Although neither group wanted to take the leadership, they were instrumental in using their influence to get relgious leaders in the state to step forward.  We held an Interfaith Day of Prayer and Advocacy which drew 60 people to the State House, but more importantly drew a number of key speakers; Executive Director of the Mass Council of Churches, President of the Mass Bd of Rabbi's, Bishop of the Episcopal Discese of Mass, and other leaders of our community.  At the event, we challenged attendees and legislators to sign our Interfaith Pledge for Climate Action.

After the event we sent the Interfaith Pledge for Claimate Action to all congregations asking for signatures and were able to get about 2,000 signatures.  We also arranged for Interfaith groups to meet with legislators to encourage action on our legislative goals.  UU led many of those meetings.  Where we had support from local clergy, but they could not attend we asked them to sign letters in support of goals whihc were hand delivered at the meetings.

In the end, the major bill we were seeking was unexpectedly passed on the last day of the legislative session.  Attached are the mission statement, pledge and sample letters.
